Homecoming Court L to R: Brooke Vollman, Alex Waski, Brooke Coldsnow, Jamie Panichi, Giada Spisak, Sonny Sears, Tillie Averre, Landon Eichler, Lindsey Lieu
IHS students gathered in the auditorium to vote for this year’s Homecoming King and Queen on Friday, September 12th. When everyone took their seats, the candidates were introduced and photographed. A song of their choice played in the background as each couple walked down the aisle. Candidates included Tillie Averre, Lindsey Lieu, Giada Spisak, Brooke Coldsnow, Brooke Vollman, Sonny Sears, Landon Eichler, Alex Waski, Jamie Panichi and Joe Fricano. The IHS Student Council filmed and edited the Top-5 video, as well as oversaw Spirit Week and Homecoming activities.
After they took a seat on stage, an introduction video featuring each of the candidates played. Recorded interviews with the homecoming candidates included questions like, “Who’s your underclassmen crush?” and “What’s a trend you’re excited to see go away?”. Answers ranged from Labubus to bubble shorts to self-diagnosing after watching a TikTok video. Once the video finished, the court played a game of “Who’s most likely to?” where couples raised each other’s shoes into the air in an attempt to win the round. After the assembly, students cast their votes for the king and queen through a Google form.
When asked about the video production, Lieu shared, “There was an issue. …Robby [Kalman], who edited the video, texted me saying, “I don’t have Giada’s video.”. Lieu shares that the video was missing from her SD card, and she had to arrive at school early to re-film it. Kalman thankfully finished the video in time, and the students loved it.
