IHS Holiday Concert “Sleighed”

Family and friends of IHS instrumental and and vocal programs gathered to watch the IHS Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, and Vocal Ensemble at their holiday concert on 7pm Tuesday, December 16th. They performed a total of 12 songs, including a combined performance of the band and choir as the finale!

The Jazz Band opened the concert with The Herald Angel Swing, with soloist William Stray on trumpet, then Jingle Bell Rock with saxophone and clarinet soloists Nora Olexa and Rylee Shepard.

Next, the rest of the IHS Wind Ensemble joined the Jazz band on stage. They opened with the light-hearted song I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. After, they performed Son of Santa the Barbarian, a narrated by Mr. Mike Janatovich and featuring tuba soloist Tillie Averre. Lastly, they took the audience on a magical Sleigh Ride with trumpet and slapstick soloists William Stray and Penny Averre.

Then, the band members made room for the choir risers so the Vocal Ensemble could take to the stage. They began with Carol of the Bells, followed by Eatnemen Vuelie (the Frozen opener), Blue Christmas with soloists Maddie Kerns and Robby Kalman, O Come, Emmanuel with cello soloist Tillie Averre, Christmas Canon with Sydney Swansinger as the piano secondo, Sizalewe Indonana with soloists Maddy Spetich and Brooke Vollman, and percussionists: Emilia Mikolic, Rylee Shepard, Leah Creel, Jules Cherny, AJ Sipos, Mr. Michael Greene.
