Seniors Matthew Liepert, Nathan Lu, Tate McGovern, Matthew Shamblen, and Grady Wachs were rarely outdone during spirit week or on days they chose to commemorate with costumes, creativity and performance. Memorable moments from the self-named “spirit gang” during the 2025-2026 year include:
Camo Day – wore camo, assembled a “campfire” and tents in the cafeteria.
Beach Day – brought swimming gear, filled a pool with water in the school parking lot.
Pink Out– filled the cafeteria with pink balloons, made cotton candy in school, and had a raffle for it.
Wacky Wednesday– dressed up strangely
Pumpkin Day – wore pumpkins on our heads.
Halloween – Willy Wonka gave out candy and gave a tour of the factory to children. Robocop made an appearance.
Thanksgiving – had a Charlie Brown feast with ice cream, jelly beans and toast.
Pajama day – brought beds into school and slept in different bunk beds in the cafeteria; Nathan assembled a bed to sleep in his classes.
Christmas – acted out and sang the entire 12 days of Christmas song each day until winter break.
Whoville feast– Day before winter break, cafeteria turned into Whoville, the Grinch stole the Christmas tree on his sled with Max pulling it. Then Santa tackled him and saved Christmas.
Valentine’s Day– had a date in the cafeteria.
Presidents’ Day – had a debate in the cafeteria.
Jersey Day – played football in the cafeteria with Patrick Mahomes.
Chinese New Year – paraded a handmade 30-ft traditional dragon through school halls while playing a gong with music.
Honorable Mention: Star Wars night at Guardians game – built wearable cardboard Millennium Falcon and Star Destroyer, plus two Tie Fighters, then flew them around Progressive Field.
